Pyrus communis ‘Conference’ – Conference pear 6-8cm girth Potted

Pyrus communis ‘Conference’ is a small, deciduous, tree which produces the ‘Conference’ dessert pear. This tree has green leaves and scented white flowers that emerge in the spring, these flowers are followed by firm, juicy, bell-shaped fruits that have a fine and soft texture with a sweet flavour. The fruits should be harvested in September, when slightly under-ripe, and stored until they are ripe in November. As the Conference pear is a self-fertile tree in pollination group 3 it does not need a pollinating partner in order to produce fruit, but it would benefit from having another variety of pear nearby in order to maximise the fruit yield. Introduced in 1885, Pyrus communis ‘Conference’ is an excellent variety for the UK climate. Growing well in shady, colder spots in moist well-draining soils, this reliable tree is a popular choice for planting in gardens, especially in colder areas like the North.
