Wisteria brachybotrys ‘Yokohama Fuji’ – Silky Wisteria 2-2.5m tall

Wisteria brachybotrys ‘Yokohama Fuji’ – Silky Wisteria is a stunning, fast-growing climber.

A deciduous climber that in late spring produces a mass of fragrant, lilac purple, pea-like flowers held in short racemes.

Long tendrils follow the flowers and will wind around and attach themselves to any trellis or wire supports.

To increase the flowering Wisteria brachybotrys ‘Yokohama Fuji’ – Silky Wisteria will need trimming twice per year.

In Summer, the new growth is cut back after flowering in July or august to 5 or 6 buds. This cutting helps the stems thicken and mature whilst promoting the production of more flower buds.

In late winter, whilst the plant is dormant, the same shoots are then pruned back to 2 or 3 buds to allow air flow.

Wisteria brachybotrys ‘Yokohama Fuji’ – Silky Wisteria is best grown in a fertile and moist, well drained soil.

Place in a sheltered, sunny position for best flowering and growth, some shade can be tolerated.

Wisteria will grow to approx. 10m tall and 6m wide but can easily be pruned to keep to almost any size.
