Taxus baccata – Yew tree 80-100cm tall 10lt

Taxus baccata is a medium-sized, evergreen tree with a reddish-brown, peeling bark. It has leathery, dark green, needle-like leaves, yellow, insignificant flowers that emerge in spring and small, red, fleshy fruits that appear in autumn. Although these berries are much loved by birds, it is important to note that they are poisonous to humans if ingested. This long-lived, tough tree, will reach a mature height of 10-15m, growing in sheltered or exposed positions, in any aspect and well-draining soil (avoid poor drainage and waterlogged areas). Often clipped to form topiary shapes or pruned to form abstract or cloud hedging, the Yew is a popular choice for a specimen, screen or windbreak in larger gardens and parks.
