Cornus alba ‘Elegantissima’ – Red Barked Dogwood
Cornus alba ‘Elegantissima’ – Red Barked Dogwood is a medium-sized, vigorous, deciduous shrub with an upright habit.
It has young red/green stems turning to vibrant, dark red in autumn and winter.
The green, oval leaves with white margins give an overall bright appearance to the plant, these turn red in autumn.
Small cream flowers appear in late spring to early summer which are followed by white berries.
Cornus alba ‘Elegantissima’ Reaches a mature height of 3m and a width of 3-4m.
Dogwood can be planted in any situation, but will grow best in partial sun and must have moist soil in full sun.
We recommend cutting back any two-year-old stems in mid to late winter in order to encourage brighter young growth and provide winter interest the following year.
The striking appearance of the Cornus alba ‘Elegantissima’ makes it a popular, ornamental choice for flower borders and hedging.
For the best impact, dogwood should be planted in a group to increase the number of stems.

AFTER CARE / PLANT MAINTENANCE
Dogwood plants must be heeled-in firmly around the base of the plants and will benefit from watering in the early stages of establishment.
Check tree tie / stake isn’t rubbing and / or too tight or too loose on the trunk.
Check for and remove any dead, decaying, diseased or crossing branch.
Remove any weeds from around the base of the dogwood (including grass).

- Soil : Suitable for all soils including sand, clay or loam.
- Hardiness : Hardy in all of UK and Northern Europe.
- Plant maintenance : Low maintenance but requires regular pruning.

Overnight to your door
We can delivery to you anywhere in England and Wales via an overnight courier service (two days for Scotland & Ireland).
Via Online Shop
Orders placed via our Online shop if placed by 10am Monday –Thursday can be delivered to you the very next day. If placed on a Friday – Sunday delivery would be on Tuesday.
We deliver by national overnight courier service.
Should you require a specific delivery date, let us know in advance and we will arrange for your delivery to arrive on your required date.
Every tree and plant is packed to ensure your order arrives safely.

Please phone us to discuss, we are usually able to deliver to you via a dedicated vehicle.
