Common Hawthorn, also known as Quickthorn or May Blossom, is a fast growing deciduous, native tree that has always been used for hedging and field boundaries. Hawthorn has fragrant white flowers in late spring just as the small, green, Maple like leaves appear. Dark red berries follow in autumn, which are much loved by wildlife. Hawthorn plants are fast growing and respond well to clipping, so are often used to create a boundary hedge, the sharp thorns make this plant a very good defensive hedge.

Bare Root plants are available from early November to late March. We can takepre-orders before this time and dispatch the plants as soon as they are available.

This Complete Hedging Pack contains the Hawthorn plants, 60cm tall rabbit spiral guards and 90cm tall bamboo canes to assist planting your hedging. We calculate this based on 5 plants being used per metre in a double staggered row, with a rabbit spiral guard and bamboo cane for each plant.
