Planted Photinia ‘Red Robin’ Standard Trees to create a screen

Here is another example of our Photinia ‘Red Robin’ trees, having been installed to create garden privacy earlier this week.

King and Co specialize in screening trees to create a screen above the fenceline. Trees are often planted to screen overlooking windows or unsightly objects either next door or at the bottom of the garden. Our best-selling screening trees are photinia, laurel , Ligustrum and Magnolia.

Photinia Red Robin can be purchased in both standard tree and hedging plant form. Photinia Red Robin as a tree is very popular, providing a dense evergreen tree with a bushy head – which is used in many gardens as a raised hedge, with a clear stem of approximately 1.8m or 6ft. Photinia holds stunning red, glossy young foliage during spring that gradually ages to green with time, the new growth appears in bursts throughout spring and summer. To create a dense hedge, Photinia can be pruned when they are first planted. At this time of year, bare root hedging plants often steal the limelight, with the option of ‘raised hedge’ screening trees going generally under the radar.

Pleached trees are another alternative to create garden privacy. Our pleached laurel trees have an approx. 1.8m clear stem with the branches tied into a bamboo frame 1.5m wide and 1.25m tall and are the ideal way to screen above a fence and fast-growing Laurel will fill the frames quickly to give full coverage.
