Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera)
Liriodendron tulipifera is a fast growing, large, deciduous tree, with an upright pyramidal crown structure when young becoming much wider at maturity.
One of Its main attractions are the large, distinctively shaped lobed leaves which appear fresh green in spring and summer, and turn to yellow in autumn.
In early summer it produces tulip-shaped, upright, yellow-green flowers with orange bases. These flowers are a good source of nectar for bees.
Liriodendron tulipifera does well in all moist fertile soils and has good wind resistance. When mature it can reach a height of 20m+ so ideal for larger gardens and parks where it has room to grow.
