Buy Liquidambar styraciflua trees or Sweetgum tree varieties for truly great year round interest. The seasonal interest starts with the Maple like lobed leaves which emerge green in Spring. In Autumn they turn to dazzling reds mixed with yellows, oranges and even purples. The bark becomes grooved or fissured as the tree matures resembling cork on some cases. They are a medium sized tree reaching 10-15m tall when mature in most areas but have an upright conical habit so will fit comfortably in most medium and large gardens.
