Honey Locust (Gleditsia tricanthos Sunburst)
Gleditsia triacanthos Sunburst is a broadly conical tree when young becoming rounded with spreading branches as it ages. The delicate looking foliage is coloured golden yellow when young darkening to pale green at maturity. Greenish white flowers often produce unusual large pendant seed pods.
This is a thornless variety and a good and more robust alternative to the Robinia Frisia which can have brittle branches.
Grows well in most soils and can cope with periods of slightly wetter conditions.
A good choice for any but the smallest gardens.
