King and Co were delighted to host prime minister hopeful Boris Johnson at the Tree Nursery in Braintree, Essex.
Local and national press were keen to catch a glimpse of Boris Johnson at the Rayne based Tree Nursery on Saturday afternoon, with customers and King and Co staff given the opportunity to meet and discuss issues with him. Local councilors were also able to chat with Boris in the retail plants area which includes topiary, evergreen hedging shrubs such as Photinia and bee-friendly flowering plants such as lavender.
The visit included a guided tour around the site, including the tree lines consisting of screening trees, fruit trees, and sorbus trees. The visit came as part of Mr Johnson’s Conservative leadership campaign prior to hustings around the Essex area. Leadership contender Jeremy Hunt instead visited nearby Chelmsford.
Mr Johnson then helped the production and logistical teams load some birch trees and modelled some shrubs. Mr Johnson took particular interest at the Austrian Pine trees and enquired with regards to an apple tree for his own garden!
James Cleverley (MP for Braintree) hosted the visit to the Tree Nursery, having previously visited the Tree Nursery in 2015, to see the RHS Chelsea Gold Medal winning Topiary F1 car pit scene. The Tree Nursey is celebrating 40 years of business since starting in 1978.
