Thuja plicata 'Gelderland' - Western Red Cedar 80-100cm tall

Thuja plicata 'Gelderland is a compact growing evergreen tree ideal for use as a hedge or for taller screening. This Cedar is a very tough and hardy plant once established and has a beautiful shiny leaf which is mid green in colour through the growing season and has a tinge of bronze through the winter months. Although this is a large tree when mature it can be easily clipped and kept to a manageable height. Thuja plicata 'Gelderland' can be cut back hard and re-grow without leaving brown patches as with the faster growing Leylandii.

Excellent when used as hedging or for screening with the freshly cut aromatic foliage smelling of citrus or pineapple. A fast growing tree, but slower than Leylandii. Tolerates any well drained soil and suited to being planted in any aspect. Low maintenance.
