Bare Root Trees: 2018 planting season

The bare root planting season is now in full swing.

We’re busy lifting bare root trees ready for sale at the tree nursery and online, for delivery across the UK. This time of year is perfect for planting trees as they have now entered their dormant state, ready for winter.

It’s time to start planning ahead to spring and summer and get bare root trees in the ground now. When the weather starts to warm up next year your trees will be ready to flourish. Successfully establishing a newly planted tree is much easier during the bare root season, when the ground is moist and the temperature is cooler.

Bareroot tees are much cheaper to purchase. With no heavy soil surrounding the roots they’re cheaper for us to transport. This reduction in weight also makes for lighter work when you’re planting. Certain tree species can’t be supplied bare root as they’re not suited to the removal of soil from the roots. Photinia is one such example.
